Signs your air conditioner needs attention
Most AC problems show up gradually. Catching them early usually means a simpler fix.
Warm air from the vents
The system runs but the air coming out isn't cool.
Weak airflow
Little air moves through the registers even when the fan is on.
Ice on the lines
Frost or ice on the refrigerant lines or the indoor coil.
Water around the indoor unit
Puddles or dripping near the indoor unit, often from a clogged drain.
A loud outdoor unit
Grinding, buzzing or rattling from the condenser outside.
High electric bills
Your usage is the same but the summer bills keep climbing.
Humid southwestern Pennsylvania summers
It's not just the temperature here — it's the humidity. Warm, moist air rolls up into the hills and valleys of Washington County and the South Hills and settles in. A home can read a perfectly fine 72 degrees and still feel clammy if the air conditioner isn't pulling moisture out of the air the way it should.
An AC that's running right does two jobs at once: it cools and it dehumidifies. If your home feels sticky even when the thermostat says it's cool, or if the system runs constantly without ever feeling comfortable, that's worth a look. Sometimes it's a simple fix; sometimes it points to a sizing or airflow issue.
Sized with a load calculation, not a guess
When a new air conditioner goes in, bigger isn't better and smaller isn't cheaper. A system that's too big cools the house in a hurry, shuts off, and never runs long enough to pull the humidity out — so it's cold and clammy. A system that's too small runs all day and still can't keep up on the hottest afternoons.
The right way is a load calculation. We look at your home — the square footage, the windows, the insulation, the direction it faces — and figure out what size actually fits. A new system should be matched to your home, not picked off a shelf.
We install Goodman, Comfortmaker, Rheem and Mitsubishi equipment, and we're an authorized Comfortmaker dealer. Every job comes with a 1-year labor warranty.

Other cooling options
Central air isn't the only way to cool a home. If you're weighing your options, here are the other cooling systems we work on.
Keep the outdoor unit clear
The outdoor unit — the condenser — releases the heat your system pulls out of your house. It needs air moving freely through it to do that. Keep bushes, shrubs, leaves and mulch at least a couple of feet back on all sides, and don't stack anything on top of it. A unit choked with growth runs hotter, works harder, and costs more to run. A little clearance goes a long way toward keeping it through a Pittsburgh summer.
